Members will be introduced to the computational essay as a form — its structure, purpose, and what distinguishes it from conventional academic writing or code notebooks. In the second half of the session, members will explore their own interests to begin identifying potential project directions.

Distinguish a computational essay from a code notebook, a lab report, and a traditional research paper
Identify characteristics of effective computational essays through analysis of published examples
